Recently the president made his State of the Union speech, wherein he produced another ``waffle.'' As is frequently the case, his delivery was outstanding; but much content was stolen from the Republicans, who are conservative by comparison. His style was great, but his substance pretty meaningless. However, the media thought it was mighty fine.
Following Clinton's instant switch, U.S. Sen. Bob Dole had a say. He criticized the president's speech and talked facts and figures in his usual dull speaking style. Whereas the media had acclaimed Clinton's stolen ``switch,'' they hardly mentioned Dole's honesty and facts but, rather, emphasized his lack of color and style.
