William Mason Whitley, age 69, of 14304 Bowling Green Road, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 1996, in Riverside Regional Medical Center.
He was a native of Isle of Wight County and a farmer. He was a member of the Suffolk Moose Lodge (NU)141, and a Baptist.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Pippens Whitley; mother, Adelaide Whitley Worrell of Windsor; four daughters, Shirley W. Snyder, Windsor, Sue W. Goerger of Windsor, Joanne W. Dennis of Morehead City, N.C., Darlene Whitley of Suffolk; two sons, William M. Whitley Jr. of Chesapeake, Steven T. Whitley of Windsor; brother, Garland S. Whitley of Zuni; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. in Colonial Funeral Home Chapel, Smithfield, with the Rev. Robert Cofield officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Lawn Cemetery, Suffolk. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home and suggest memorial contributions may be made to the Lupus Foundation of American, Eastern Virginia Chapter, 201 Independence Blvd., Virginia Beach, 23462, or the Isle of Wight Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 97, Smithfield, Va. 23431.
