CARRIE M. EARNHARDT

Mrs. Carrie Miller Earnhardt, 84, of 208 N. Granville St., died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 1996, in her home.

A native of Perquimans County, Mrs. Earnhardt was a daughter of the late William David and Vera Turner Miller, and the wife of W.J.P. Earnhardt Sr. of Edenton. She was preceded in death by her son, W.J.P. Earnhardt Jr.

Mrs. Earnhardt was a member of the Edenton United Methodist Church. She was the Chowan County Memorial chairman of the American Cancer Society for 25 years, past chairman of the Chowan County Historic Committee, life member of Edenton Woman's Club and N.C. Federation of Woman's Clubs, Chowan County Woman of the Year in 1962, and received the Lifetime Service Award for significant contributions in restoration and preservation in Chowan County and Edenton.

Surviving in addition to her husband are her daughter-in-law and her husband, Judy Earnhardt Adams and Robert Adams II of Greenville, N.C.; two sisters, Vera Ann Miller Byrum and Hazel V. Bailey, both of Elizabeth City; and two grandchildren, Mark Wiley Earnhardt and Claire Thompson Earnhardt.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in the Edenton United Methodist Church by Dr. Stan Smith. Burial will follow in the Beaver Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Evans Funeral Home today from 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Edenton United Methodist Church.
