GALVIN HYMAN SR.

Galvin Hyman Sr., of the 2800 block of Early St., died Feb. 26, 1996, in DePaul Medical Center.

He was a longshoreman for Local 1248 ILA and a native of Rocky Mount, N.C. He was a member of Guiding Light Holiness Church, Portsmouth.

He is survived by his wife, Bessie Victoria Hyman; five daughters, Roberta Rodgers, Nellie Rodgers, Catrina Deboris, Patricia Rodgers, and Brenda Rodgers, all of Norfolk; five sons, Rolando Rodgers, Wilson Rodgers, Galvin Hyman Jr., Arnold Rodgers and Wade Rodgers, all of Norfolk; two sisters, Rosa Hyman of North Carolina, Hattie Batts of San Antonio, Texas; two brothers, Claud Nicholson of Rocky Mount, N.C., James Hyman of North Carolina; 32 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday by the Rev. Spellman in Macedonia Holiness Church, Norfolk. Burial is in Roosevelt Memorial Park. The remains will be taken to the church at 11 a.m. The family will assemble at the residence at noon for the procession. Carlos A. Howard Funeral Home is in charge.
