JOHN M. RATLIFF JR.

Dr. John M. Ratliff Jr., 76, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 1996, in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.

A native of Scooba, Miss., he had been a Peninsula resident since 1954. Dr. Ratliff retired as a radiologist in 1980 after many years of service. He was a member of Hidenwood Presbyterian Church. He completed his undergraduate work at Hamden Sydney College. He graduated from the Medical College of Virginia in 1944 and practiced general medicine in Norfolk, where he was also the city coroner. Dr. Ratliff served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of Warwick Masonic Lodge and James River Country Club.

Dr. Ratliff was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Nancye G. Ratliff. He is survived by two sons, John M. Ratliff III of Miami and James N. Ratliff of Radford, Va.; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hidenwood Presbyterian Church by the Rev. J. Harold McKeithen. Burial will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Parkinson Disease Foundation, 640 W. 168th St., New York, N.Y. 10032-9982.
