The City Council took the following action at its meeting Tuesday (Griffin was absent):

Ordinance to amend article III, zoning districts, of the Zoning Ordinance to create a residential RS-75-PUD district.

Approved, 6-0

Ordinance to rezone portions of Twin Pines, Peachtree and Ebony Heights from residential RM-75 to residential RS-75-PUD, residential RM-60-K and residential RM-75--K to residential RS-75 and residential RS-60, residential RM-75 to residential RS-75.

Approved, 6-0

Application by the city for comprehensive rezoning for the Highland neighborhood from residential RM-75 to residential RS-75. The property generally is bounded by George Washington Highway, Paradise Creek, Beech Street, Elliott Avenue, Dekalb Avenue, Independence Avenue, Bide-A-Wee Golf Course, Gust Lane and the corporate limits of the cities of Portsmouth/Chesapeake.

Application by the city for comprehensive rezoning of a portion of West Norfolk from RM-75 to RS-75 and M-1-R.

Application by the city for comprehensive rezoning for portions of the Cavalier Manor neighborhood from RM-60 to RT-75; RM-75 to RS-75; M-1 to M-1-R. The properties generally are bounded on the north by Interstate 264, on the east by Victory Boulevard, on the south by the Norfolk and Western Railroad and the west by the corporate city limits of Portsmouth and Chesapeake.

Application by the city for a comprehensive rezoning of the Truxtun neighborhood from residential multi-family RM-75 to residential single-family RS-75. The properties generally are bounded by Interstate 264, Dekalb Avenue, Elliott Avenue, Paradise Creek, George Washington Highway and Frederick Boulevard.

Ordinance to appropriate $900,000 ($720,000 from general obligations Bonds and $180,00 from the Stormwater Management Utility Fund for drainage improvements to Cavalier Boulevard, by piping and closing the existing ditches in the median from Greenwood Drive to the city limits.

Ordinance to appropriate $200,336 from the Public Utilities Capital Improvements Fund to rehabilitate and replace portions of the city's water and sewer infrastructure.

As part of the Vision 2005 Plan, the parcel bounded by the 600 blocks of London Boulevard and Queen Street and the 400 blocks of Washington and Green Streets is being redeveloped. Portions of the public utilities were installed in 1892, 1905 and 1938.

Ordinance to appropriate $27,000 from the Public Utilities Capital Improvements Fund for structural inspections and evaluation services for the Lake Cohoon, Meade and Kilby Dams.

Resolution authorizing the city manager to submit an application and execute documents to apply for a seventh year of state funding from the Chesapeake Bay Local Assistance Department to offset the cost of complying with the Chesapeake Bay Preservation Act.

The Planning Department is requesting a $25,000 grant to extend their grant-funded environmental planner position.

Resolution naming the deputy city manager for finance as the city's authorized agent for Federal Disaster Relief purposes to apply for financial assistance under the Disaster Relief Act for the snow storm that occurred on Jan. 13.
