Evelyn Hutcheson Cherry, 77, of the 500 block of Sussex Drive, died Thursday, Feb. 29, 1996, in Portsmouth.
Mrs. Cherry, a native of Portsmouth, was a salesperson with Sears Betty and Bob. She was a Baptist.
Survivors include her husband, Linwood H. Cherry; a daughter, Audrey Cherry Cooke of Portsmouth; two sisters, Jean Jennings of Virginia Beach and Fay H. Leonard of Chesapeake; a grandson, Maury W. Cooke Jr. of Portsmouth. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Jennings; a brother, Norman Hutcheson; and a grandson, Gregory Lin Cooke.
A graveside funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Olive Branch Cemetery by Dr. R. Clinton Hopkins. The family will receive friends at her home. Foster Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to Gregory Lin Cooke Scholarship Fund, 440 High St., Portsmouth, Va. 23704.
