As many as 30 students were suspended and some face expulsion after an apparent neighborhood rivalry escalated into a fight Friday morning at Lake Taylor High School.
No students were seriously injured, no weapons were found and order was restored in a half-hour, school officials said. Security guards broke up the fights.
George Raiss, a school system spokesman, said the fighting broke out about 7:15 a.m. as students arrived at school. Most of those involved were from the Berkley and Diggs Town neighborhoods.
Order was restored by 7:40 a.m., Raiss said, and there were no further disturbances. Four police officers patrolled the school and security will be beefed up for several days, he said.
Some of the melee was recorded by school security cameras and witnessed by school personnel. by CNB
