WILEY A. SCOTT

Capt. Wiley Anthony Scott, U.S. Navy (Ret.), of Bruton Lane in Bay Colony, died Feb. 29, 1996, in Virginia Beach General Hospital.

He was a native of Jasper, Ala. Captain Scott was a member of Virginia Beach United Methodist Church and a member of its administrative board. He was president of the Jackson Fellowship Bible Class and a member of the church's Worship Committee. He was a graduate of the United States Naval Academy, Class of 1946, and was a Veteran of World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He was a decorated fighter pilot who had command of Fighter Squadron 33 and Fighter Squadron 174. He also commanded the ships USS SACRAMENTO and the USS OKINAWA. Captain Scott was a member of the board of SEVAMP, a member of the Virginia Beach Safety Council and a member of the Virginia Beach Sports Club. He was former Chairman of the Mayor's Committee on Aging. He was a long-time volunteer at Virginia Beach General Hospital and a member of the Virginia Beach Hospital Auxiliary.

He is survived by his wife, Ethel; and three children, Wiley Anthony Scott Jr. of North Wales, Pa., and his wife Deborah, Michael Holmes Scott of Virginia Beach and his wife Linda, and Mary Louise Scott-Barnes of Malibu, Calif. and her husband Dean. He also leaves four grandchildren, Christopher Scott, Michele Scott, Katherine Scott and Caroline Scott; and one brother, Rear Admiral James H. Scott, U.S. Navy (Ret.) of Corpus Cristi, Texas.

A church service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Sanctuary of the Virginia Beach United Methodist Church by Dr. Paul Bailey and the Rev. Clark Mandigo. Memorial gifts may be made to the Building Fund, Virginia Beach United Methodist Church, 19th & Pacific, Virginia Beach, 23451 or to the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road chapel, is handling arrangements. The family will be at 1308 Bruton Lane Virginia Beach, Va. 23451
