Mrs. Vernie Miles Griffin, 80, a lifelong resident of Southampton County, died Thursday, Feb. 29, 1996, at Southampton Memorial Hospital, Franklin.
She was a member of Clarksbury Baptist Church and was the daughter of the late Rillard S. and Anne Johnson Miles.
Survivors include her husband, Erastus R. ``Pat'' Griffin; daughter, Julia G. Doyle of Boykins; stepson, Ervine Lee Pressley of Monroe, N.C.; sister, Esmond M. Worrell of Suffolk; two grandchildren, Scott A. Doyle and Jennifer D. Vincent; and two great-grandchildren, Christopher R. Vincent and Jeffrey Vincent.
A funeral will be conducted in Purviance Funeral Home, Boykins Chapel, on Sunday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Durward Vaughan and the Rev. J.B. Jarratt. Burial will be in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Clarksbury Baptist Church.
