Ethel Blanchard Pierce, 85, of the 5700 block of Caddoan Road, died Thursday, Feb. 29, 1996, in a Norfolk hospital.
She was the widow of Glenn Allen Pierce Sr., her beloved husband of 65 years. She was born in Norfolk County the youngest and last surviving of the 10 children of Wenona and James W. Blanchard. Mrs. Pierce was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, Norfolk, its Fidelis Bible Class, and a former member of the Trinity Senior Choir.
She is survived by a daughter, Joyce Pierce Coulson and her husband, Roy M. Coulson of Virginia Beach; three sons, Glenn Allen Pierce Jr. and his wife, Sandra T. Pierce of Norfolk, Robert Vance Pierce and his fiancee, Genevieve Gioio of Thornwood, N.Y., and D. Randall Pierce and his wife, Joyce D. Pierce of Norfolk. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Trinity Baptist Church, Norfolk, by Dr. John Mason. Burial will follow in Rosewood Memorial Park, Virginia Beach. The family will receive friends at Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, Virginia Beach, Sunday from 3 to 4 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Trinity Baptist Church, 2808 Ballentine Blvd., Norfolk, Va. 23509.
