Ruben Parker, 86, of the 500 block of Cherokee Road, died March, 1, 1996, in a Portsmouth hospital.
He was a native of Gates County, N.C. He was a retired painter for the Norfolk Naval Base.
He is survived by his wife, Jean H. Parker; three daughters, Patricia P. Barnes of Chesapeake, Ruby P. Gray of Portsmouth, and Joni P. Stutz of Chesapeake; son, Jack L. Parker of Portsmouth; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Charles Dunleavy Jr. The family will receive friends at the Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, Sunday from 3 to 4 p.m. and at other times at 113 Yorkshire Road, Portsmouth.
