The 1996 Miss Western Branch Pageant will be held at 8 p.m. Friday at the Western Branch High School auditorium, 4222 Terry Drive. The event is sponsored by the Western Branch Service Club and coordinated by Angie Turner and Tracy Riddleburger.
Sixteen contestants will be judged on the basis of an interview and talent and evening gown competitions. The contestants and their escorts will perform to the theme of ``Mardi Gras.''
Performing will be Amber Medlin, Miss Virginia 1995; Kimberly Sykes, Miss Western Branch 1995; and Russell Vrhovac, Mr. Western Branch 1995.
The price of tickets is $5.
The contestants are as follows:
Tanya Benton, 17, daughter of Steve and Paula Benton, will dance. Her escort is Rudy Morgan.
Julonda Watkins, 16, daughter of Osceola and Dorothy Watkins, will sing. Her escort is Evan Williams.
Blair Baker, 17, daughter of James and Barbara Baker, will dance. Her escort is Ryan Nagle.
Julienne Rouse, 18, daughter of Rufus and Celestine Rouse, will sing. Her escort is Billy McClung.
Noelle Hagwood, 17, daughter of Mel and Tracey Hagwood, will dance. Her escort is Shyrone Stith.
Valerie Clark, 17, daughter Lucius and Mary Clark, will play the piano. Her escort is Joey Clayton.
Joy de Lazo, 16, daughter of Jose and Marilyn de Lazo, will dance. Her escort is Daryl Walton.
Christine de Triquet, 16, daughter of John and Carole de Triquet, will perform a musical theater selection. Her escort is Matt Peppers.
Kelly Hunter, 17, daughter of Charles and Valerie Hunter, will sing. Her escort is Oronde Beamon.
Crystal Brett, 16, daughter of John and Cathy Gilday, will recite a monologue. Her escort is Brian Schollhammer.
Laura Miller, 16, daughter of Wayne Miller and Gwendolyn Armstrong, will sing. Her escort is Darren Walton.
Karen Erway, 16, daughter of Craig and Diane Erway, will play the flute. Her escort is Will Shoaf.
Carly VanOrman, 17, daughter of Barry and Adele VanOrman, will perform a musical theater selection. Her escort is Malik Cook.
Kathryn Thomas, 17, daughter of Robert and Evelyn Thomas, will play the piano. Her escort is Daniel Dussia.
