CRIME LINE

Local police are seeking public assistance in solving these cases:

VIRGINIA BEACH

The arson at Princess Anne High School on Sept. 1, about 1:30 a.m., remains unsolved.

Investigators have determined that someone broke into the back of the school and set the fire, which was extinguished after several hours.

The blaze caused more than $7 million damage to the school.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Solvers.

The Duck Inn Restaurant in the 3300 block of Shore Drive, near the Lesner Bridge, was burglarized twice within eight days.

On Jan. 7, about 6:30 a.m., police responded to a burglar alarm and found the restaurant had been broken into and ransacked.

Thieves had pushed the safe out of a window, and money was missing from it. Several rolls of coins were left behind.

Eight days later, on Jan. 15, the restaurant was again burglarized. Again, the safe was pushed out a window, but this time it did not break open.

Because the safe is heavy, investigators believe more than one person was involved.

NORFOLK

The Central Fidelity bank branch in the 2000 block of Colonial Ave. was robbed about 9:15 a.m. on Feb. 13.

The robber, a woman, placed a demand note on the counter and told the teller she wasn't kidding. The teller placed money in a black bag, and the robber fled, running south on Colonial Avenue.

The suspect was described as black with a dark complexion. She was 30 to 35 years old, 5 feet 2 inches tall and 120 pounds.

The suspect was wearing a white shirt, a light-colored jacket too big for her, a ball cap and scarf. She had dirty fingernails.

About 2 a.m. on Feb. 16, Veronica White was shot while in the 800 block of Dennison Ave. in the Chesapeake Manor area.

When police arrived, they found her lying in the street with multiple gunshot wounds. She died a short time later at a local hospital. by CNB
