William Thomas Gibbs, 76, of the 3100 block of Somme Ave., died March 4, 1996.
He was a retired forklift operator with Dixie Manufacturing Company. Mr. Gibbs was born in Perquimans County, N.C., and was the son of the late Edgar Gibbs and Margaret Webb-Gibbs, the husband of the late Alice Mitchell-Gibbs and the brother of Alphonzo Gibbs and Mary Felton of North Carolina.
Other survivors include his daughters, Alice Fluker, Mamie Lamb, Thomasine Guillenwater, Jackie Tate and Joyce Lewis, all of Norfolk; and a special friend, Mildred Little of Norfolk.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Graves Funeral Home, Norfolk. Interment will follow funeral services at Roosevelt Cemetery, Chesapeake. The family will receive friends at 3122 Somme Ave. and at the wake service, which will be held at Graves Chapel on Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
