Thane ``Jack'' Shelton Garrison, 71, of the 4000 block of Oakhurst Road, died March 4, 1996, in a local hospital.
He was a retired radio broadcasting teacher for Chesapeake Public Schools. He was founder of the Society of Broadcast Engineers and a member of Elizabeth River Power Squadron. He was a native of Woods County, Okla., and was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Army Air Corps.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Hathaway Garrison; daughter, Pamela A. Thompson of the residence; son, Randolph L. Garrison of Virginia Beach; two brothers, William Victor Garrison of Wichita, Kan., and Keith W. Garrison of Albuquerque, N.M.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday by the Rev. Jane Flaherty in St. Christopher's Episcopal Church. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the residence, 4021 Oakhurst Road, Portsmouth, 23703. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, 3300 Cedar Land, Portsmouth, Va. 23703. Loving Funeral Home, Churchland, is in charge of arrangements.
