A fire swept through a house in the 1700 block of N. Battlefield Blvd. early Tuesday, causing extensive damage, Fire Chief Thomas Cooke said.
No one was inside the two-story Victorian frame house when firefighters arrived. The house's owner, John Hamer, lives next door, Cooke said. The blaze, reported about 1:50 a.m., was brought under control about 3 a.m.
Fire investigators looked through the rubble Tuesday afternoon to determine a cause. by CNB
