Joe Habit, an assistant football coach at Great Bridge, and Martin Oliver, the Wildcats long time head basketball and baseball coach, have accepted positions at Hickory High School, principal Linda Byrd announced Tuesday.
Habit, who played football at James Madison and earned a degree in marketing education, will be Hickory's first head football coach while Oliver takes on athletic director duties.
Habit began his coaching career at Bridgewater College and then became the head Great Bridge junior varisty coach in 1989.
Oliver, a Great Bridge graduate and coach for 27 years, compiled a 286-334 record as head basketball coach.
According to Byrd, no other coaching positions have been filled.
