JOSEPH T. HATZOPOULOS

Joseph Theodore Hatzopoulos, 70, died March 6, 1996, in a Norfolk hospital.

Mr. Hatzopoulos, a native of Norfolk, retired from the U.S. Navy in 1961 after 20 years of service as a chief electrician. He was also retired after 10 years in the U.S. Navy Reserve, and he was owner and operator of the Lido Inn for 34 years. He was a member of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Fleet Reserve Association, and American Legion Post 327. He was a U.S. Naval veteran of World War II and served in the Pacific Theater and North Africa.

Survivors include two daughters, Sydma Elizabeth Hatzopoulos of West Liberty, W.Va., Frances Love Hatzopoulos of Virginia Beach; three sons, Theodore Joseph Hatzopoulos of Norfolk, Mark S. Hatzopoulos of Virginia Beach, Joseph Theodore Hatzopoulos Jr. of Burlington, N.C.; his mother, Mrs. Syrma Bassil Hatzopoulos of Norfolk; two sisters, Frances H. Petrakos of Westwood, Mass., Bess H. Koutas of Fairfield, Conn.; a grandchild, Sara Maxine Hatzopoulos of Virginia Beach; three nieces; and two nephews.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral by Father Constantine P. Rogakos. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery with full military honors. There will be a Trisagion Service held at the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, Friday at 6:30 p.m. where the family will remain and greet friends until 8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Greek Orthodox Church Building Fund.
