TONIGHT
LONG AFTER the big Kerrigan-Harding ice queen duel, it seems Americans are still hooked on skates. Every week brings a special skate show to TV, and this week they'll spin into Norfolk Scope for the ``Stars on Ice'' 10th anniversary tour.
Olympic champions Kristi Yamaguchi, Scott Hamilton and Katarina Witt are a few of the figure skating greats you'll find slicing into town. It's at 7:30 tonight, and benefits the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Tickets: $25 to 35. 664-6464. To order, call 671-8100.

THURSDAY
HE'S CRAZY, HE'S KOOKY and loves making a mess. It's Gallagher, the self-proclaimed king of Sledge-O-Matic. He'll be serving up his humor of the absurd while pulverizing all sorts of fruits and vegetables. Spraying his audiences with goo is a certainty. So beware. Expecially when he pulls out his favorite: watermelons. If you plan on buying a $22 ticket, which will put you in the first 10 rows, don't forget your rain slickers or plastic sheets. It'll be a little drier in the $18.50 seats. The jokes and food starts flying at 8 p.m. Thursday at Willett Hall, Portsmouth. 393-5144.

WEEKEND
NEW MOVIES THIS WEEK include something for everyone, from the cute, ``Homeward Bound II: Lost in San Francisco,'' to the sick, ``Hellraiser: Bloodline,'' to the sexy, ``If Lucy Fell,'' or the outrageous, ``The Birdcage.''
``Homeward Bound'' has talking animals - two dogs and a cat, with Sally Field and Michael J. Fox recreating their vocal roles from the first film. ``Hellraiser'' is the fourth of the Clive Barker films obsessed with life on the eternal hot side. ``If Lucy Fell'' concerns two friends who promise they'll jump off the Brooklyn Bridge if they haven't found true love by the age of 30. The cast includes Sarah Jessica Parker, Ben Stiller and noted model Elle Macpherson. ``The Birdcage'' is a remake of the French ``La Cage aux Folles''; the new one stars Robin Williams, Nathan Lane, Gene Hackman and Dianne Wiest.
Take your pick. Hey, you know who you are.

THURSDAY
DIAMOND RIO CONTINUES to glitter.
Touring behind their newest album, ``IV,'' the heavily-awarded country group brings hits, past and present, to The Showcase, in Portsmouth on Thursday.
They have two platinum and one gold album to their credit, five Grammy nominations and three Country Music Association awards as ``Vocal Group of the Year.'' Not bad for a crew that is only five years old.
Onstage, they mix vocals by Marty Roe with instrumental work for an exciting show - the 1995 tour was one of the largest grossing tours in country music.
Advance tickets are $10; tickets at the door are $12.50. The club, new to the country scene, is at 2850 Airline Blvd. Call 488-2955. To order call 671-8100.
