Mrs. Nellie Vick Drake, 85, a lifelong resident of Southampton County, Va., died Thursday, March 7, 1996, at Southampton Memorial Hosptial, Franklin.
She was the widow of Linwood Roy Drake Sr. At the time of her death, she was the oldest living member of Barnes United Methodist Church, Newsoms. Her parents were the late Rufus E. and Dollie Flythe Vick.
Survivors include, two sons, Linwood R. Drake Jr. and wife, Evelyn of Franklin, Roy E. Drake and his wife, Mary of Newsoms; two sisters, Bessie V. Barrett of Franklin, Adelle V. Drake of Newsoms; six grandchildren, Stewart Drake and wife, Grace Lynn, Connie Corbitt and husband, Charlie, Ann Burgess and her husband, William J., Linwood Drake III and wife, Lori, Sandra Alston and her husband, Kevin, Susan March and her husband, Brian; 10 great-grandchildren, Brad Corbitt, Chris Drake, Stephen Drake, Michael Burgess, Matthew Burgess, Ashley Alston, Kristin March, Courtney March, Kari March and Hillary Drake.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Barnes United Methodist Church, Newsoms, by the Rev. Derek Koolman and the Rev. Kenneth Williams. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery, Newsoms. The family will receive friends at Purviance Funeral Home, Boykins Chapel, today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Barnes United Methodist Church.
