JOSEPH E. GLADSTONE JR.

Dr. Joseph Edward Gladstone Jr. died Thursday, March 7, 1996.

He was born April 16, 1906, in Exmore, Va. He was a graduate of University of Virginia Medical School and interned at St. Vincent De Paul in Norfolk and Columbia Hospital for women. Also, he was appointed to the State Board of Medical Examiners and served as president for 10 years. He was a member and past president of the Northampton Medical Society, Medical Society of Virginia, American Medical Society, vice president of Medical Staff of the Northampton-Accomack Memorial Hospital in Nassawadox. He was co-medical examiner for Northampton County, member of Epworth United Methodist Church, Broadwater Masonic Lodge 71, A.F. and A.M., Khedive Temple Shrine, Norfolk, Eastern Shore Shrine Club, Exmore Rotary Club and Commonwealth Club of Richmond. He is survived by his wife, Doretta R. Gladstone of Richmond; daughter, Joanne G. Vaden of Midlothian, Va.; son, Donald R. Gladstone of Durham, N.C.; daughter-in-law, Nita Gay Gladstone; son-in-law, Julian B. Vaden; and four grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Belle Haven Cemetery by the Rev. Donald Broad. The family will join friends today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Doughty Funeral Home in Exmore. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, c/o Mrs. S.K. Ames, P.O. Box, 566, Cape Charles, Va. 23310.
