John Henry O'Dell, 68, of Swan Drive, died March 6, 1996, in his residence.
He was retired after 27 years from the Division of Motor Vehicles in Norfolk. He was a native of Matoaka, W.Va., and was a Protestant. He was a member of the Police Association of Virginia.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn G. O'Dell; son, John H. O'Dell Jr. of Currituck, N.C.; mother, Ruby V. O'Dell of Barco, N.C.; sister, Shirley. O'Dell of Barco, N.C.; and many other devoted family members.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday by the Rev. Ernest L. Trueblood in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Bridge Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Crawford Township Volunteer Fire and Rescue, P.O. Box 96, Currituck, N.C. 27929, or to, Hospice, P.O. Box 189, Elizabeth City, N.C. 27907. The family will receive friends at the funeral home after the service.
