MARTIN E. PARKER

Mr. Martin Edward ``Ed'' Parker, 79, of 102 Virginia Road, died Wednesday, March 6, 1996.

A native of Perquimans County, Mr. Parker was a son of the late Charles Wilma and Mary Jordan Parker and the husband of Evelyn Smith Parker. Mr. Parker was an owner/operator of the Parker-Evans Hardware Store, formerly the Hughes-Parker Hardware Store before retiring. Mr. Parker was a member of the Edenton Baptist Church, past member of the Edenton-Chowan Chamber of Commerce, and a Mason. He had served in the U.S. Navy.

Surviving other than his wife is his son, and daughter-in-law, Martin N. and Ira Byrum Parker of Nashville; two sisters, Faye Parker Harrell of Hertford, N.C., and Mary Louise Overton of Greenville, N.C; three grandsons, Quinton Edward Byrum Parker, James Raymond Hare, and Christopher George Hare, all of Nashville.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m Saturday at 3 p.m. in the Edenton Baptist Church by Dr. Kenneth Word. Burial will follow in the Beaver Hill Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at their residence. Memorials may be made to one's favorite charity. Evans Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
