Ruth Glanville Broughon, 82, of the 3700 block of Larkin St., died March 6, 1996, in Virginia Beach.
She was the daughter of the late John Lewis Glanville and Mattie Virginia Ishon Glanville. She was the widow Ernest Broughon Sr. She was born in Norfolk and raised in the Masonic Home in Richmond. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Ilene Stanley Ashley of Virginia Beach; son, Herbert Broughton of Norfolk; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday by the Rev. James Bradshaw in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends in Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, today from 7 to 8 p.m. Donations may be made to the Hope Haven Children's Home.
