A 20-year-old woman was found dead in her Weirwood house trailer near U.S. Route 13 on Wednesday. Police said she had been beaten, burned and stabbed.
Northampton County Sheriff W. Wayne Bradford said Kimberly Fisher's body was found by neighbors who had gone to investigate after hearing her year-old daughter crying for an extended period. The child was found unharmed in a crib.
Bradford said suspects were being questioned.
The Sheriff's Department was joined by state police crime-scene technicians from Chesapeake and blood experts from Richmond. The specific cause of death had not been determined, Bradford said, and the Social Services Department had custody of the child.
