23,433% ASTOUNDING REVENUE GROWTH PUTS BEACH FIRM ATOP LIST OF STATE'S FASTEST-GROWING SMALL COMPANIES

New Dominion Pictures Inc., a Virginia Beach producer of TV documentary series, tops a new list compiled by Virginia Business magazine of the fastest-growing small companies in Virginia.

New Dominion's revenue growth rate of 23,433 percent between 1992 and 1994 was by far the fastest of any of the companies on the ``Fantastic 50'' list in the March issue of the magazine. It reported 1994 revenues of $3.53 million.

Fifteen other Hampton Roads companies also made the 50-company list.

Tom Naughton, New Dominion's founder and chief executive, said his company's best-known series, ``Archaeology,'' will conclude its five-year run on The Learning Channel this season. But he said New Dominion already has won a contract to produce another documentary series for that cable network. He declined to name the series.

New Dominion also landed a contract to produce another documentary series, on dinosaurs, for another cable network, Naughton noted. He declined to name that network. New Dominion has 25 employees at its Oceanfront location.

Naughton founded the company in 1989, increasing its revenues from about $15,000 in 1992 to $3.5 million in 1994. The 41-year-old executive started his career in television as a graphic artist and spent three years creating shows for public television in New York before moving to Virginia Beach.
