Handsome Moore Jr., 74, of the 1700 block of Mount Vernon Ave., died March 7, 1996, at Hampton Veteran's Hospital Palliative Care Unit.
Mr. Moore, a retired disabled veteran, was a native of Norfolk. He attended various churches in the area. He was well-known in the Church Street community. He was well-known by the names Mr. Mark IV, Mr. Watergate, and Fats.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Laurette Barnes Hedgspeth of West Palm Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Mrs. Adell Sharp and Mrs. Josephine Alston, both of Norfolk; two granddaughters, Whitney and Lorin Hedgspeth, both of West Palm Beach; an uncle, Mr. Lewis Hormer of Boston, Mass.; several nieces, nephews, cousins; and a host of devoted friends.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 525 Dinwiddie St., Norfolk, by Dr. I. Joseph Williams. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Friends will assemble with the family at 1731 Mount Vernon Ave., Norfolk, on Monday at noon for the funeral procession to the church. Metropolitan Funeral Service is in charge. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
