Bernice I. Baker Jones, 88, of the 2900 block of S.E. Ocean Blvd., died March 7, 1996.
Born on Oct. 16, 1907, in Gates County, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Richard Harrison and Dora Speight Baker and the widow of Floyd M. Jones. She was a member of Savages United Methodist Church and its United Methodist Women in Gates County.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Pete Hickman of Stuart; two brothers, Raleigh ``Cutie'' E. Baker of Virginia Beach, Henry Holmes Baker of Burleson, Texas; two grandchildren, Sharon Floyd of Marbury, Ala., Stephen Hickman of Tiffin, Ohio; three great-grandchildren, Robyn and Curtis Floyd and Desiree Coffman.
A funeral will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. in the R.W. Baker and Co., Funeral Home, Suffolk, by the Rev. Ann Giles-Benson with burial in Holly Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral home on Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Savages United Methodist Church.
