TREE LIMBS MAY LINGER UNTIL APRIL

The residue of the winter storms may be visible on Portsmouth streets for another month or more.

The city's Department of General Services announced Thursday that the pickup of broken tree limbs probably will continue until late April.

City spokesman Ken Wheeler said the department had roughly 1,000 loads of broken limbs to be picked up and that city crews average between 25 and 35 loads a day.

Wheeler said the department had asked citizens to refrain from placing other bulk refuse on the street until the limbs are removed.
