Comedy and jazz are coming to Willett Hall this week.
Gallagher, the comedian known for his biting social and political commentary, will perform at at 8 p.m. Thursday.
Tickets are $22 for the first 10 rows and $18.50 for all other seats. They are available at all Ticketmaster locations, including the Willett Hall box office.
Russ Freeman and The Rippingtons, a contemporary jazz ensemble using state-of-the-art instruments and recording techniques, will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday.
The Rippingtons, led by composer/producer/guitarist Russ Freeman, combine jazz, pop, rhythm and blues, Latin and world music elements for a contemporary jazz sound.
Freeman, originally a solo artist, conceived of a group with a revolving door of players. The first Rippingtons lineup included pianist David Benoit and saxophonists Brandon Fields, Dave Koz and Kenny G, and resulted in the 1986 debut ``Moonlighting.''
The group has featured many different guest musicians on subsequent albums. And the touring band, while changing through the years with the participation of featured artists, has been together in its present lineup for more than three years. Drummer Tony Morales and percussionist Steve Reid have been with the group since the beginning.
Tickets for Saturday are $13.50 each, reserved seats. They are available through all Ticketmaster locations or the Willett Hall box office. MEMO: For more information, call 393-5144.
