Diamond Rio, three-time Country Music Association Vocal Group of the Year, will perform at The Showcase on Airline Boulevard Thursday.
The 9 p.m. show also will feature the Cruisin' Coyotes. Tickets for the show are $10 in advance, $12 at the door and are available through Ticketmaster.
The country music act represents the night club's new direction of presenting a variety of music.
Kippy Jenkins, the manager of the club for Princess Anne Recreation Center Productions, said the club has hosted several country and rock acts recently.
This concert is part of a plan to bring national acts to the club about every other month, Jenkins said.
``I'm also planning to have rising stars two to four times a month. We are making this a multicultured venue.''
His list of future entertainment will include alternative rock, rhythm and blues and jazz.
Diamond Rio, whose members once performed as Tennessee River Boys at Opryland in Nashville, also received awards in 1991 and 1992 from the Academy of Country Music. They have been nominated for five Grammy awards since 1992.
They recently completed their fourth album, ``IV,'' on Arista Records.
The six-man band has been active in money-raising activities for the Second Harvest National Food Bank and also serves as ``national spokespersons'' for the Big Brother/Big Sister Organization of America. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
