Address: 1200 block of Culver Lane (Ocean Lakes)

Occupation: Owner of F and M Environmental Technology

Previous elected post: none

Why are you running?: I feel that we need to put some brakes on,

to put some reality back into this scenario. There are some tough

decisions to be made with the board, some hard decisions. The only

way you can get things done sometimes is to get into the midst of

it.

What can you contribute?: I feel I can make an impact on the

board. I can help heal the wounds, make key decisions on

technological development and vocational education.

Children in school? Three; one at Ocean Lakes High.

Archie Wilber DeBaun Jr.

Age: 32

Occupation: Accountant

Address: 800 block of Park Place Drive (Park Place)

Previous elected post: none

Why are you running? This past year there was quite a bit about

problems with the budget. As an accountant, I felt some civic duty

to offer my expertise as far as the budget and board expenditures

and things like that. I thought I could help improve the school

system so by the time my children get there, things could be

improved.

What can you contribute? If anything, I hope to contribute more

financially-oriented decision-making to the board.

Children in school? Two children, not yet school-age.

H.L. ``Les'' Powell Jr.

Age: 41

Address: 2000 block of Hedgelawn Way (Red Mill Farm)

Occupation: Trooper, Virginia State Police

Previous elected post: none

Why are you running? I feel like I have a lot to offer the kids

of Virginia Beach and especially the school system. I've been

around the schools for the last five or six years volunteering and

coaching.

What can you contribute? I would want to ask some questions, I

wouldn't necessarily be a yes-person, and I would want to come up

with some good answers to the problems that may arise. And I'd want

to work together as a team, with the School Board, the

superintendent and the faculty. We need to work together as a team.

Children in school? One son at Kellam High School.
