Hubert S. ``Wimpy'' Morris Sr., 77, of 1700 block of Arlington Ave., died suddenly March 7, 1996.
Mr. Morris, a native of Norfolk, was a graduate of St. Joseph Catholic School. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in Germany. He was employed 25 years at Walter U. Walsh Florist, and retired in 1993 from Qualex Corporation. Wimpy Morris as he was fondly called, was a former member of the Brown Bombers Football Team, president of the Grid Iron Sportsmen's Club, Booker T. Washington and Norfolk State University Boosters, and an organizer of the Norfolk State University Invitational Relays. Mr. Morris was also past president of the Campostella Heights Civic League.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah L. Morris; three daughters, Elaine B. Wilson of Virginia Beach, Sadie Brehon of Norfolk, Theresa Jacobs of Willingboro, N.J.; five sons, Hubert S. Morris Jr. of Bronx, N.Y., Eugene Brehon, Clarence Morris, La-Mar S. Morris, Kelvin L. Morris, all of Norfolk; 16 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; 15 nieces; seven nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The funeral will be conducted at noon Tuesday at Metropolitan Funeral Service, Norfolk, by the Rev. Paul Griffin. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Family and friends will assemble at 1713 Arlington Ave., Norfolk, at 11 a.m. Tuesday for the funeral procession to the church. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
