Ruby J. Hoffman, 76, of Farragut Street, died March 9, 1996, in her home.
The widow of A.M. Hoffman, she was a native of Taylorsville, N.C., and attended school in China Grove, N.C. She resided in Portsmouth for more than 50 years and retired from General Electric as a supervisor. She attended Temple Baptist Church for several years and was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post (NU)993, Portsmouth.
She is survived by two daughters, Brenda Black of Norfolk and Joyce Nunley of Marion, Va.; a brother, Howard Knight, and a nephew, J.E. Knight, both of China Grove; a niece, Mary Mills of Thomasville, N.C.; four granddaughters; and three great-grandsons.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. Allen L. Dooley and the Rev. Ted Bashford. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. today and a service by the VFW Ladies Auxiliary will be at 7 p.m. today.
