Richard G. Mobley Sr., of Wedgewood Lakes, died March 8, 1996.
Born April 24, 1935, in Louisville, Ky., he was the son of the late Walter Griffin and Mary Elizabeth Harlow Mobley. He was a radioman chief petty officer and veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars, having served with the U.S. Navy from April 1952 to May 1971. He also retired from the Sheriff's Department of Cecil County, Md., after serving 20 years from June 1971 to October 1991.
He is survived by his wife, Fumie Kataoka Mobley; two daughters, Elizabeth A. and her husband, Dwain Felts of Port Deposit, Md., Sharon C. Wenrich of Chaddsford, Pa.; two sons, Richard G. Mobley Jr. of Perryville, Md., and Michael E. and his wife, Brenda Mobley of Virginia Beach; his sister, Mary B. Murray of Lebanon, Ky.; his three brothers, William W. Mobley of Eatonville, Wash., Elmer T. Mobley of Monticello, Ga., Joseph H. and his wife, Jean Mobley of Moyock; three granddaughters, Jessica, Amanda, and Tiffany; and five grandsons, Curtis, Michael, Mark, Gregory, and David.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. today at Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, Virginia Beach, with Father Patrick Doody presiding. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
