Rubie Butler Thomas, 82, formerly of 301 Robinhood Road, died March 9, 1996, in Suffolk.
She was a native of Southampton County and was the daughter of the late James Edward and Lillian Wellons Butler. She was the widow of Lewis Monroe Thomas. Mrs. Thomas was a retired clerk of the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court for Franklin, Southampton County, and Suffolk. She was a member of High Street United Methodist Church and was a past worthy matron, Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 128, Franklin.
Mrs. Thomas is survived by a daughter, Barbara T. Smith of Suffolk; a son, Robert Lewis Thomas of Franklin; two sisters, Louise B. Heath and Frances B. Livesay, both of Franklin; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Thomas was predeceased by a son, Edward Monroe Thomas.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Wright Funeral Home by the Rev. Edward Johnson, where Eastern Star rites will be accorded. The burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery, Sedley. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today and at other times at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Thomas, 168 Bobwhite Lane, Franklin.
