Thelma Springer Rowlands, 76, of Pine Meadows, died March 8, 1996, at a Virginia Beach hospital.
Mrs. Rowlands, a native of Moorehead, Ky., was a beloved wife and devoted mother. She was involved in various charities. She met her husband at the Jefferson Hotel in Norfolk and was married July 3, 1943. They lived in various locations throughout the United States and settled in New Jersey until they retired in 1974 and moved to Virginia Beach.
Survivors include her husband, James T. Rowlands; two sons, Robert J. Rowlands and Brian J. Rowlands, both of Virginia Beach; a brother, Norman Springer of Ohio; a niece, Carlene Carver of Kentucky; and a host of great-grandnieces and nephews; a brother-in-law, Nathaniel Rowlands of New Jersey.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel. Burial will be in Colonial Grove Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society.
