An enhanced scholarship program at Elizabeth City State University this fall will allow qualified Albemarle-area high school graduates to receive up to $5,080 in yearly Incentive Scholar benefits.
The Incentive Scholar program is available to freshmen and transfer students who attended high schools or community colleges in the 21 counties served by ECSU, the school has announced.
Academic qualifications for the funds require an 800 SAT score by on-campus students and a 3.0 or higher grade-point average.
Students who receive Incentive Scholarship benefits also must perform certain community services.
Entrance requirements vary slightly between freshmen and transfer students.
Freshmen must have had no previous college or university attendance and must have been in the top half of their high school graduation class.
Students who transfer from a community college in the ECSU service area must have an associate degree or a diploma or other certificate.
These students must have diplomas or associate degrees reflecting a GPA of 2.5. The credentials must be in a program that is in line with an academic degree at ECSU.
The deadline to apply for scholarships in the 1996 academic year is March 31. by CNB
