AMY H. CHAPPELL

Amy Holland Chappell, 94, formerly of N. Road St. and more recently of Carolina Living, Elizabeth City, died at Albemarle Hospital on Saturday, March 9, 1996.

Born in Southampton County, Va., she was a retired schoolteacher and a graduate of Longwood College, Farmville, Va. She was a member of Blackwell Memorial Baptist Church, a Sunday school teacher for 50 years, a member of the Women's Missionary Union and a past president of the Women's Missionary Union.

Mrs. Chappell was the daughter of the late James Levy and Martha Sarah Councill Holland, and widow of George Allen Chappell.

She is survived by a sister, Hazel Holland of Windsor, Va.; a stepdaughter, Mabelle C. Kates of California; and two stepgrandchildren.

A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Twiford's Memorial Chapel, Elizabeth City, with the Rev. Bob Crisp officiating. Burial will in be Old Hollywood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 this evening at the funeral home. Memorial gifts may be made to Blackwell Memorial Baptist Church Building Fund.
