Jesse Robert Woodruff, 71, of the 4000 block of Edwardian Court, died March 8, 1996, in Sentara Bayside Hospital.
Mr. Woodruff was born in Kenly, N.C., and was retired as a warehouseman from the N.O.B., Norfolk, after 22 years. He attended Parkway Temple in Chesapeake and was a lifetime member of the D.A.V. He served in the U.S. Army and received an honorable discharge from the service. He was a recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal and the Purple Heart.
Survivors include his wife, Irene Woodruff; a son, Robert J. Woodruff of Virginia Beach; his stepfather, Joseph P. Towell of Norfolk; a sister, Jenny Twiford, and brother-in-law, Curtis Twiford, of Virginia Beach; niece, Teresa Jackson, and great-niece, Jennifer Jackson, both of Virginia Beach. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Edward Woodruff.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Kellum Funeral Home, Rosewood Chapel, by the Rev. Ernest Trueblood. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Friends are invited to the home, 756 Brinson Arch, Virginia Beach, following the funeral.
