Two people suffered injuries when a fire broke out early Monday at an apartment complex in the Midcity section.
About 18 people were forced to flee.
Deputy Fire Marshal Linwood Lovett said the fire destroyed one of the buildings at the Mariner's Green Apartments at 12711 Nettles Drive.
The fire was reported at 3:55 a.m. Firefighters worked about 30 minutes to control the blaze, Lovett said.
Injured were Barry and Shannon Jones. Lovett said Shannon Jones, who is 7 months pregnant, fell about 10 feet from her apartment window when her husband attempted to lower her to the ground. Both were taken to Riverside Regional Medical Center.
Arson was the cause of the fire, Lovett said. The fire started in a stairwell, which forced the occupants of about 10 apartments to flee.
