It wasn't the blow it might have been - but, it was enough. Above, a

pair of onlookers hold vigil Tuesday as a cottage resists the

effects of a broiling Atlantic Ocean. A storm system moving up from

Florida collided with another system over the New England states and

they settled their differences over Kitty Hawk's stilted residences,

right. Flood and storm warnings were in effect along the coastline

for most of the day Tuesday.
