While he continues to be paid by WTKR, former Channel 3 on-air meteorologist Duane Harding will work at the Nauticus National Maritime Center as a volunteer consultant and coordinator.
In a Tuesday press conference at Nauticus also attended by David T. Guernsey Jr., the center's president and chief operating officer, Harding was not specific about what his duties would be.
Harding said he's thinking about a Mr. Wizard-type demonstration at Nauticus. Another possibility is a club for amateur weather watchers.
Harding, known on TV as ``Dr. Duane,'' has been adrift since January when the new owners of WTKR replaced him. He's still on the Channel 3 payroll, and will be until July. But he's not on the air.
``By joining the National Maritime Center's efforts to educate and inform, I'm happy to give something back to the community which has always supported me,'' he said. by CNB
