LINWOOD EPPS

Linwood Epps, 69, of the 4600 block of Westborough Drive, died March 12, 1996, in Maryview Medical Center.

He was a retired aircraft engineer for the Naval Air Station, where he worked for 32 years. He had been retired for 10 years. He was a native of Portsmouth and was a member of New First Baptist Church, Taylorsville, Portsmouth. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Navy.

He is survived by his wife, Rachel Epps; daughter, Judy Clinton of Norfolk; two sons, Carol Epps and Joseph Epps, both of Portsmouth; sister, Lena Winters of Chicago; brother, Albert Epps of Chicago; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Martha Epps of Portsmouth, and Tina Epps of Washington, D.C.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Susie B. and Nicodemus Epps.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday by Dr. T.M. Steele in New First Baptist Church. Burial is in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Family and friends will assemble at 4600 Westborough Drive at 1:15 p.m. Saturday for the procession to the church.
