Mathew H. ``Dan'' Daniels, 71, of the 700 block of Bottino Lane, died March 12, 1996, at Virginia Beach General Hospital.
Mr. Daniels, a native of Dillon, S.C., was retired from the Navy after 21 years of service and retired from civil service after 13 years. He was a Protestant and a member of the Police Association of Virginia and AARP. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in World War II and Vietnam.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine Louise Daniels; a daughter, Sandra D. Norman of Virginia Beach; five sons, Matthew H. Daniels Jr., John S. Daniels of Virginia Beach, Richard ``Rick'' Daniels of Virginia Beach, William R. ``Bill'' Daniels of Hampton, Timothy C. ``Tim'' Daniels of Richmond; three sisters, Mary M. Freeman, Marie Gaskill, and Phyllis A. Tilley, all of North Carolina; two brothers, John J. Daniels of Amherst, Va., Joseph A. Daniels over seas; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
A graveside service with full military honors will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Rosewood Memorial Park by the Rev. Jimmy Tilley. The family will receive friends at Kellum Funeral Home, Rosewood Chapel, from 7 to 9 p.m. today.
