I totally disagree with the letter from George T. McVay (March 7) who writes ``(T)he wearing of seat belts is an area where the people of Virginia are perfectly capable of deciding for themselves; they do not need the state to tell them what to do.''
What about the children who are put at risk every time they get into a car with parents or grandparents who feel that seat belts are annoying, uncomfortable or a nuisance? We need the state to step in and protect the children from such uncaring and stupid people.
