Perley Jennings Williams Sr., 38, died Thursday, March 14, 1996, at a Greenville hospital.
Mr. Williams was born in Buxton and was a retired chef. He was a member of Lighthouse Assembly of God Church in Buxton and graduated from Cape Hatteras High School in 1976. He was the son of Elliott Jasper Williams Sr. and Minnie B. Farrow Williams of Buxton, and the husband of Suzanne Marie James Williams, also of Buxton.
Besides his parents and wife, Mr. Williams is survived by a daughter, Rachel Jean Williams; three sons, Perley J. Williams Jr., Jason Patrick Williams and Nathan M. Williams, all of Buxton; three sisters, Bernice Fisher of Deland, Ill., Grace Berry and Sally Powell, both of Buxton; three brothers, Elliott Jasper Williams Jr. of Frisco, N.C., Jonathan E. Williams of Buxton, and William E. Williams of Cullman, Ala.; six nieces and six nephews. He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Vetter J. Williams Sr. and Sarah B. Williams; and maternal grandparents, Perley L. Farrow Sr. and Mary Ellen Farrow.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Lighthouse Assembly of God, Buxton, with the Rev. Shawn Mizelle and Rev. Roger Barnett officiating. Burial will take place in the Williams Family Cemetery, Buxton. A visitation is scheduled for Saturday at Twiford's Island Chapel, Hatteras, from 7 to 9 p.m. The family will meet at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E.J. Williams Sr. of Buxton.
