Woodroe Gainey
NORFOLK - Woodroe Gainey, of the 200 block of Nansemond Arch, died March 12, 1996.
Mr. Gainey, a native of Chesterfield, S.C., was a member of Antioch Baptist Church, Norfolk.
Survivors include a daughter, Jean Gainey of Norfolk; his mother, Grace Liles; his stepfather, Grover Liles; a sister, Nella Harris of New Jersey; brother, Robert Gainey of Pennsylvania; a devoted niece, Marilyn Smith of New Jersey; three grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Brenda Gainey; brother-in-law, Marquis Harris; four stepbrothers; four stepsisters; two aunts, Mrs. Geraldine Harvey, Mrs. Burnett Liles of Norfolk; six nieces; a nephew; and a stepsister, Mrs. Hankins Evna. He was preceded in death by a brother, Willie Gainey.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church by Dr. I. Joseph William. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. The remains will be placed in the church at 11 a.m. Saturday. There will be a wake from 7 to 8 p.m. today in Hale Funeral Home Chapel. Family and friends will assemble at the residence at noon Saturday.
