GARNET B. WHITE

Garnet Barrett White, 74, died on Thursday, March 14, 1996, at Southampton Memorial Hospital in Franklin.

She was the widow of Woodrow Wilson White. Mrs. White was born in Southampton County and was the daughter of the late Richard Everette and Adna Wood Barrett. She graduated from Boykins High School. She attended Longwood College in Farmville and was a graduate of the Fannie Webb Business School in Franklin. She worked as the secretary and bookkeeper for Dr. J.J. Grizzard in Branchville until his retirement. She was a member of Boykins United Methodist Church and the Tarrara Women's Club in Boykins.

She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Garnet White of the home and Sallie Wood White Acai, and husband John Skinner Acai of Littleton, N.C. She raised as her son Maury Wilson White of Dunwoody, Ga., and is survived by two grandchildren, Bruce Wood White and Kimberly Anne White; and two great-grandchildren, Claire and Brent. She was predeceased by her brother, Richard Everette Barrett Jr.

Graveside funeral services will be held in Severn Cemetery, Severn, N.C., on Sunday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. John Davenport and the Rev. Ben Thomas. The family will receive friends at the residence, 18221 Deloatche Ave. Memorial donations may be made to the Boykins Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad, or the Boykins United Methodist Church. Purviance Funeral Home, Boykins Chapel, is handling the arrangements.
